September 2007
As this wonderful summer of 2007 comes to an end, so does our schedule of trips our club has enjoyed so much. The final trip for this year will be to Bingeman Park, Kitchener on Oct. 11th with a bus load of 56.
The overnight trip to Niagara Falls to see “Oh Canada Eh” was a huge success, thoroughly enjoyed by 80 of our members. Two buses, a first for our club.
The Labour Day Parade committee appreciated 70 of our retiree members participating in this years parade with a bus and a float and had a BBQ back at the hall afterwards.
This year we moved our Christmas Dinner/Dance one week earlier so as to not conflict with the children’s Christmas Party.
We finally have our on-line news letter up to date and will try to maintain it. We also have another beginners computer course for retirees starting soon.
Our club is saddened by the passing of the following members, Leonardus Oostdyk-78 years old, Edward Ott-75 years old, Brian Probyn-70 years old, Leon Humanski-68 years old.
One of our members, Mike Boltman gave a presentation to our club on Diabetes and our local will be holding a seminar for all interested parties on Oct 20th at 9:30 AM at our hall.
September Birthdays were celebrated by Tuula Kojola, Edith Brown and our oldest club member Bob Barker who was 93 years old this month.
September Anniversaries were celebrated by John and Margaret Reynolds-58 years, Jim and Gwen Scott-44 years, Steve and Lynda Szalay-44 years and Kalman and Olga Csupor-43 years.
This months 50/50 door prize draw of $40 each was won by Judy Brooking and John Scott.
