As mentioned in previous newsletters, we have struggled to keep our newsletter current. If you think you have missed an edition, click on the archives column and select the month. Again we apologize for any untimely editions as we are working hard to keep this news letter current.
As our summer is coming to a glorious end, we are finalizing preparations to Niagara Falls, 2 buses, show, overnight then off to St Jacobs market for some shopping. Next trip to Kitchener, Oktoberfest, Oct 11th is already fully booked with a waiting list, as with many other clubs, some events have limitations that we can not control.
Our retirees executive board made a recommendation to the Sports, Entertainment, Retirees trustees, to affiliate our retirees club with CURC (Congress of Union Retirees of Canada) which is the retirees arm of the CLC (Canadian Labour Congress) at a cost of $200. for 1000 members and over. We will have more information at a later date.
Our club is saddened by the passing of the following members, John Hallam-82 years old, Harry Shortreed-62 years old, Gilbert Frost-82 years old, William Quick-84 years old, Ronald Taylor-71 years old, Ian Ross- 64 years old, John Calder-70 years old.
August Birthdays were celebrated by Bob Rynyk, Neddie Majesky, Margaret Reynolds, Gerry Jurgeneit, Connie Woolnough, Steve Szalay and Martin DeGraauw.
August Anniversaries were celebrated by Bronislaw and Josie Novak-59 years, Peter and Gerlinde Dietz-46 years, Robert and Helen Dembicky-52 years, Tony and Stefania Czapla-40 years.
This months 50/50 door prize draw of $47 each was won by Copeland Watson and Steward Jamieson.
