With all the activity required at this time of year, our news letters are running a little late, we also apologize for some errors in printing that has occurred, ie dates of the monthly news letter. Our proof reading will be improved.
On April 1st, local 353 membership voted to continue to support our trustees recommendations for pension and health and welfare benefits. Our membership and the retirees continue to benefit from these decisions. Without this support it would be very difficult and expensive to purchase these benefits. A great vote of thanks continues to go to Local 353 for their ongoing support of retired members.
Our self administered plan’s administrator has agreed to attend a future retirees meeting to address our club and answer any questions.
The retirees club computer course is completed and we are presently evaluating the windows XP training program
Endel Melliste was presented his 50 year pin and IBEW watch by Business Manager Joe Fashion at our luncheon meeting, also, retiree, Barry Earl has been appointed by local 353 president to assist in finding and purchasing a west end training facility for local 353.
Three new members were introduced and welcomed to our club, Helmuth and Ursula Brunner and William Burchell.
Our members continue to keep doctors, nurses.and hospitables busy, executive board member, Bill Slaght is scheduled for a triple bypass, executive board member, Don Mallett is also having surgery, Jim Leebody is sick at home and Nancey Carleton is on the mend at home.
Our club is saddened by the passing of the following members, Margaret Skerath, after a lengthy battle with cancer, James Bryce Cleland-79 years old, Robert Watson-78 years old, Jan Kepniak-74 years old, our thoughts are with their friends and families.
We have planned a very interesting and active trip and show program for 2007 and due to some information arriving late and the continuing growth of our club, we will be presenting a revised retirees club budget to Local 353 executive and trust plan trustees for their approval.
April birthdays were celebrated by Joan Rynyk, Olga Jurgeneit, Jim Carleton, Wolfgang Skerath and Jim Leebody.
Anniversary congratulations go to Gwen & Bill Slaght-43 years, Margaret & Ron Carroll-8 years
This months 50/50 draw of $47.50 each was won by Carolyn McMurtry and Josie Novak.
