20 YEARS OF SERVICE
To Our Retired Members
February 2007
The month of February has its challenges of snow and frosty nights. This year, Local 353’s Entertainment Committee did a fantastic job of organizing their ”Sweet Hearts” dinner dance. A great evening of renewing old friendships and acquaintances, and a chance to make new friends. I noticed a number of members having an enjoyable conversation with retired International Representative Ernie Swift, a Local 353 retiree.
Many of our retired members attend and enjoy this annual event to help shake those winter blahs.
At our Feb 6th meeting, we had guest speakers from London Life do a presentation on retirement and estate planning. Most of our members have their affairs in order, but it is always good to review and get any updates.
Our club is planning another computer course and members can register at our March meeting, also our first trip of the year will be to Woodbine Race Track for dinner/slots/trots on March 22. A bus will be leaving from our hall.
This month our club introduced and welcomed two new members, Brian Lewis and his wife Sandra.
We are saddened by the passing of the following members, James Lummiss-84 years old, William Marks-76 years old, Frank Szabo-71 years old, Arthur Eardley-81 years old, Arthur Crawford-92 years old and Albin Graciec-68 years old. Our thoughts are with their families.
The following members celebrate birthdays in February, Norma Brown, Ron Carroll, Robert Dembicky, John Cameron and Gary Brooking, all to be congratulated.
The following members and wives celebrated Valentines Day anniversaries, Andy and Jean Lappin-54 years and Larry and Hazel Little-20 years. Congratulations!
This months 50/50 door prize of $36.50 each was won by June Campbell and George Patinos.
