20 YEARS OF SERVICE
To Our Retired Members
October - November 2006
Due to time commitments it was decided to combine October and November news letter, and as we have no monthly meeting in December due to our annual Christmas Dinner/Dance, we will have an abbreviated news letter in December.
Our fall trip to Haliburton Forest Wild Life Reserve Wolf Centre was very well attended – we had a bus load of 56 passengers + 6 people drove, 2 from Lindsey, 2 from Peterborough and 2 came down from Sudbury. Even though the weather was not the best, rain in the morning, everyone arrived on time for an excellent buffet lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the wolf centre, so much so that we had difficulty getting them back on the bus at departure time. The wolves co-operated and were in full view most of the time for everyone to observe, our guides also gave an excellent presentation. We will definitely have to look at doing this trip again, hopefully with better weather, as there is so much more to see and do.
Local 353 Remembrance Day Service at the hall was well attended by veteran’s, retirees, staff, members and their children and apprentices. Everyone enjoyed a roast beef dinner with salads and apple pie for desert.
Our budget of $128,500 for 2007 trips/shows/dinners and meeting expenses was presented to Local 353 executive board and was approved.
John Scott, our computer instructor, has just completed another course with 10 retirees. Early in the new year we will be offering an “add-on and gadget course for those that are trained and are computer knowledgeable
Our efforts now are concentrating on our Christmas Dinner/Dance Sat Dec 9th, this is always a gala affair with pin presentations, guests from other locals and great music and dance. Hope to see you there.
