As 2008 is an election year for our club, nominations for the following offices will take place at our May 6th luncheon/meeting—President –Vice president—Recording Secretary—Treasurer—Sergeant-at- Arms and (6) Executive Board members. If elections are required, they will take place by ballot at our June 3rd meeting and the swearing in of elected officers will take place at our July 8th meeting.
On May 4th, 56 of our retirees enjoyed a bus trip to Hamilton, Local 105’s annual lunch/dance. This trip is always looked forward to by our club members. In appreciation our club usually donates some dance prizes. This year we donated gas cards, hopefully to help offset the high cost for some to enjoy. Before leaving for Hamilton, our bus made a slight detour to make our annual Retirees Club donation of $150 (money collected on the bus) for Amanda’s lemonade stand. This 11 year old girl has done an amazing fund raising job for the Heart and Stroke foundation.
At our May 6th luncheon/meeting, nominations for officers were taken with the following results : President—Robert Rynyk(acclaimed) Vice President—Ron Carroll(acclaimed
Recording Secretary—Gwen Slaght(acclaimed) Treasurer—Bill Slaght(acclaimed) One ballot for each position will be cast for these elected positions. There will be an election on June 3rd by ballot, for Sergeant-at-Arms between Bill Severin and Lenny Richmond and for Executive Board (6) to be elected between Joan Rynyk, Don Mallett, John Reynolds, Margaret Reynolds, Larry Priestman, Jerry Jurgeneit and Neddie Majesky.
New members welcomed in April were Manuel Mendes and Paul Duffy.
New members welcomed in May were Frank Cox and Chris Hooker. Everyone was reminded that their spouses are welcome to participate in all retiree functions and luncheons.
Our club was saddened by the passing of the following members in April---Frank Taylor-84 years old, John Bruels-78 years old, Eddie Czapnik-68 years old, Verners Kalnins-67 years old. In May--- Robert Dembicky-83 years old( Robert had been our club’s Sergeant-at-Arms for many years) David Wilkins-75 years old, Yakov Vaisman-69 years old, Cecil Shaw-56 years old. Our thoughts and prayers are with their friends and family.

May birthdays were celebrated by Geo Campbell, John Wapshott, Olga Csupor, Livia Kangsepp, Chris Smithers, Andy Lappin, Maria Dietz, Rita Iannarelli, Georgia Eccles, John Reynolds and Arlene DeGraauw. Congratulations to all.
April anniversary congratulations to Ron and Margaret Carroll-9 years, Gary and Judy Brooking-36 years, Bill and Gwen Slaght-44 years and Gerry and Shirley Desroches-51 years.
May anniversary congratulations to Richard and Carol Oswald-41 years, Bob and Joan Rynyk-44 years and Don and Shirley Mallett-50 years.
The 50/50 door draw of $50. each was won by Vito Perovich and Olga Jurgeneit for April and $51. each by Josie Noak and Geo Patinios for May.
