1. When will I be eligible for benefits?
You need to work 450 hours in a 4 month period. Benefits begin the 1 st day of the second month after you earn the required 450 bank hours.
2. When do I become a member?
You will be notified in writing by the Union Hall.
3. How does the SUB Plan work for trade school?
You must contact the Hall and ask the Benefits department to determine if you are eligible. Going to trade school does not make you ineligible, but there are too many variables that determine eligibility.
4. How and when do I start paying dues?
You start paying dues when you become a member. It is your responsibility to keep your dues paid up. You pay your dues at the Hall and you can set up direct withdrawal from your bank if you so wish.
5.Do I have t o tell dispatch if I get laid off or go to trade school?
Yes, you should inform dispatch of all changes in your work status.
6. Do I get paid for Jury Duty or Bereavement?
Jury duty and bereavem.ent are part of our benefits program. But you must contact the Hall and check with the Benefits department to determine if you are eligible.
7. How do I get information on benefits? Am I covered?
When you become eligible for benefit coverage you will receive our benefits package in the mail. I f you need to know when you will be eligible contact the Hall ask for the Benefits department. If you need further information contact a business representative.
8. I want to upgrade from high rise construction but I don’t want to write the test?
This is part of our by-laws. It takes 6 months in high rise construction before you can write the upgrade exam.
9. When I go to a jobsite, do I have to show that I have been sent by the Union Hall?
Yes, you must have a clearance card supplied by the Hall when you are dispatched. After you become a member you must be able to show a paid dues receipt.
